Barker worked as a garbage collector after graduating from high school until he was offered a spot in punk band The Aquabats for a brief period. In 1997, he collaborated with The Aquabats to record his first album.

During the summer of 1998, Barker was hired to replace the drums of punk rock band Blink-182. This was the start of his professional career. His work with Blink-182 wasn’t his only musical endeavor; he also made recordings for Transplants, a rap/rock group. Besides these projects, he also contributed to Dave Carlock’s band, The Distillers, and appeared in one of Puff Daddy’s music videos, “Bad Boy for Life”.

Interestingly, they eschewed the traditional recording method and instead converted their home into a recording studio. After months of hard work, they finally released their self-titled fifth studio album, ‘Blink-182’.

The album’s two singles, “Feeling This” and “I Miss You”, both reached the top of the Billboard charts. The band eventually disbanded in 2005, announcing an “indefinite hiatus” from music.

He also owns a clothing and accessories company, “Famous Stars and Straps”, his own record label, “LaSalle Records”, and a California establishment called “Wahoo’s Fish Taco”. In addition to his musical ambitions, he has a restaurant in California called ‘Wahoo’s Fish Taco’.
